The Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) is an intergovernmental partnership of 10 Nile Basin countries, namely Burundi, DR Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, The Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

The Nile was the lifespring of ancient Egypt, the world’s first great civilization, and it looms just as large in 21st century geopolitics as it did 5,000 years ago. Water use issues have long been a source of contention among the Nile Basin countries, who disagree on what is an equitable distribution of the river’s water.

Under the auspices of the NBI, the riparian  participates as an observer. However there are disagreemets stil exists among Nile Basin states. These agreements are being opposed by the 8 NBI Member countries. They want the unfair status quo to be reserved while Sudan and Egypt stil want the new agreement to give them the right to consent to the use of Nile water. To resolve this issue, the starting point of the NBI is considered flawed by some observers

The Fed also uses a certain amount of reverse repo (click to select) to borrow money from commercial banks rather than retain ownership of securities that are permanently transferred to meet its goals. You may also choose to effectively lend money (click to select).

Buying and selling government securities through the federal open market committee (FOMC) is the fed's most commonly used tool.

The federal reserve primarily uses open market operations to manipulate the money supply. fractional reserve banking is a system that requires banks to hold cash based on a percentage of loans.

The federal reserve can increase the money supply by cutting bank reserve requirements. this allows banks to lend more money. conversely, by raising bank reserves, the fed can reduce the money supply.
