Two cyclists start at the same point and travel in opposite directions. One cyclist travels 5 faster than the other. If the two

cyclists are 74 miles apart after 2 hours, what is the rate of each cyclist?

The rate of the slower cyclist is 16 mph while the rate of the faster cyclist is 21 mph.

<h3>How to calculate the rate of speed?</h3>

let us assume the following;

x = rate of slower cyclist

x + 5 = rate of faster cyclist

We know that formula for distance is;

distance = travel time*rate

Thus;

2x + 2(x + 5) = 74

Since the two cyclists are a distance of 74 miles apart after a time 2 hours. Thus;

2x + 2x + 10 = 74

4x + 10 = 74

4x = 74 - 10

4x = 64

x = 64/4

x = 16

Rate of faster cyclist = 16 + 5 = 21 mph

9. Find the volume of the triangular pyramid. (2pts)-10 mI9 m16 m
Makovka662 [10]

Answer:

240 m³

Explanation:

The volume of a pyramid is equal to:

V=\frac{1}{3}\times B\times H

Where B is the area of the base and H is the height of the pyramid.

Then, the base of the pyramid is a triangle, so the area of a triangle is equal to:

B=\frac{b\times h}{2}

Where b is the base of the triangle and h is the height of the triangle. So, replacing b by 16 m and h by 9 m, we get:

B=\frac{16\times9}{2}=\frac{144}{2}=72m^2

Finally, replacing B by 72 m² and H by 10 m, we get that the volume of the pyramid is equal to:

V=\frac{1}{3}\times72\times10=\frac{1}{3}\times720=240m^3

Therefore, the volume is 240 m³

If AD=6 and AB=24, find AC
ruslelena [56]
When a perpendicular is dropped from the right-angle (C) to the opposite side AB, the metric relations apply:
BD*BA=a^2 ..........................(1)
AD*AB=b^2...........................(2)
BD*DA=DC^2........................(3)

Given AD=6, AB=24, using metric relation (2) above, we have
b^2=6*24=144
=>
b=sqrt(144)=12

By the way, we conclude that this is a 30-60-90 triangle because b/AB=(1/2)=sin(B) => B=30 degrees.

0.25q+0.10d=4.95<br> D=3q
lorasvet [3.4K]
0.25q + 0.1d = 4.95
d = 3q

0.25q + 0.1(3q) = 4.95
    0.25q + 0.3q = 4.95
               <u>0.55q</u> = <u>4.95</u>
                0.55     0.55
                      q = 9
0.25(9) + 0.1d = 4.95
    2.25 + 0.1d = 4.95
  <u>- 2.25             - 2.25</u>
               <u>0.1d</u> = <u>2.7</u>
