There has been a proliferation of a large number of descendant species from a single ancestor in a group of beetles over the las

The beetles have undergone both an adaptive radiation and an evolutionary radiation.

What is adaptive radiation?

  • Adaptive radiation is a process in evolutionary biology whereby animals rapidly diverge from an original species into a variety of new forms, especially when a change in the environment makes new resources available, modifies biotic interactions, or creates new environmental niches.
  • This process, which begins with a single ancestor, leads to the speciation and phenotypic adaptation of a variety of species with various physical and physiological features.
  • Finch speciation on the Galapagos Islands (often known as "Darwin's finches") is the archetypal example of adaptive radiation, however there are more occurrences around the globe.

Why are standards of mass necessary?
Alex_Xolod [135]
Hello!

Standards of mass are necessary because it is a whole lot easier than using a bunch of different systems. Since the metric system is common, it would be easier to compare something with someone from America and someone from Germany using the metric system as opposed to something otherwise.

How do phagocytic white blood cells help your body stay healthy?
muminat

These cells consume bacteria and other pathogens to protect the body from infection. The process begins when chemicals from a pathogen, or damaged tissue, attract a phagocyte. The phagocyte binds to the microbe, envelopes it, and then eats it.

The cleft chin trait follows a dominant-recessive inheritance pattern with cleft chin being the dormant trait. john is heterozyg
ANTONII [103]
Let's say that the genotype of the couples are:

Cc and Cc. Notice that one is capital and the other is not. This is what shows that they are heterozygous. We put this now in a Punnet Square:
    C c
C CC Cc
c Cc cc

This means that there is a 75% chance that their children will have a cleft-chin and 25% will not.

The probability is the same with each off-spring. So the answer would be 75% chance the same probability for all subsequent children.

Describe two differences between animal cell and plant cell mitosis
Nat2105 [25]

Animal cells have centrioles and plant cells don't have this.Animal cells divide everywhere and all the time but plant cells divide in a specialized region called the meristems.

Explanation:

The mitotic cell division occurs in both plants and animal cells. The process involved in the formation daughter cells in cytokinesis stage makes the difference between animal and plant cell division. The animal cells forms a furrow and the daughters cells forms in the cytokinesis stage. The plant cells will not form furrow since their cells are rigid.

Centrioles are present in animal cells. centrioles are absent in plant cells. The cell division occurs at every place and any time in an animal cell. In plant cell the division occurs only in meristems which is a specialized region in plant cells.
