A spontaneous endothermic reaction always releases heat to the surroundings.

Spontaneous endothermic reaction:

When the changes in entropy and enthalpy result in a negative Gibbs free energy, an endothermic reaction may occur spontaneously. If the rise in entropy exceeds the change in enthalpy, an endothermic reaction may occur spontaneously.

Baking soda reacts endothermically with other acids like hydrochloric acid. Only when the total free energy of the products is less than the reactants may chemical reactions happen spontaneously.

A spontaneous reaction is one that favors the creation of products under the reaction's current conditions. A bonfire that is raging and exothermic is an illustration of a spontaneous reaction (there is a decrease in the energy of the system as energy is released to the surroundings as heat).

A student noticed that the freshwater plant, Elodea, produced bubbles when placed in direct light. What could the student most l
erastovalidia [21]

Explanation:

-The increased light intensity increased the rate of photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis produces glucose and O2 from inorganic CO2, light energy and water. Since photosynthesis is rate limited, the rate of energy intake can be increased in order to speed up photosynthesis, by speeding up photolysis.

 • 6CO2 + 6H20 + (energy) → C6H12O6 + 6O2

These end products, namely O2 and glucose are then used in respiration...

 • C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6 O2 → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + ≈38 ATP

The CO2 and H2O produced as waste in respiration can then be incorporated at the beginning of photosynthesis. Thus the reactions are cyclic- they feed into each other.

Further Explanation:

Photosynthesis is a chemical pathway that’s integral to producing energy in plants and other primary producers. Energy in the form of molecules of glucose is produced from light, water and carbon dioxide while oxygen is released. This occurs in several complex steps, photosynthesis is a rate limited reaction, depends on several factors including carbon dioxide concentration, ambient temperature and light intensity; the energy is retrieved from photons, I.e. particles of light, and water is used as a reducing agent. This occurs in the thykaloids, where pigment molecules like chlorophyll reside.

Occuring in several complex steps, photosynthesis is a rate limited reaction, depends on several factors including carbon dioxide concentration, ambient temperature and light intensity; the energy is retrieved from photons, I.e. particles of light, and water is used as a reducing agent. Water supplies the chlorophyll in plant cell with replacement electrons for the ones removed from photosystem II.

Respiration and photorespiration both utilize oxygen for;

 • the production of ATP via the oxidization of pyruvate;
 • and the oxygenation of the molecule Ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate (RuBP), an organic molecule also used in photosynthesis, to form 3-PGA + phosphoglycolic acid,

∴ the rate of CO2 usage for photosynthesis where O2 is produced, outpaces the rate of O2 use in respiration and photorespiration.
