X² <span>− 3x − 70=0
</span>x² + 7x - 10x − 70=0
x(x+7) - 10(x+7) = 0
(x+7)(x-10) = 0

x + 7 = 0   or   x - 10 = 0
x = -7              x = 10

Answer: x=-7,  x=10

What value is an x worth
gogolik [260]

Answer:

The letter "x" is often used in algebra to mean a value that is not yet known. It is called a "variable" or sometimes an "unknown". In x + 2 = 7, x is a variable, but we can work out its value if we try! A variable doesn't have to be "x", it could be "y", "w" or any letter, name or symbol.

Step-by-step explanation:

\displaystyle f'(x) = \lim_{h \to 0} \dfrac{f(x + h) - f(x)}{h}

\:\:\:\:\:\displaystyle = \lim_{h \to 0} \dfrac{(x+h)^2 -7 -(x^2 - 7)}{h}

\:\:\:\:\: \displaystyle= \lim_{h \to 0} \dfrac{(x^2 +2hx + h^2 -7) - (x^2 -7)}{h}

\:\:\:\:\: \displaystyle= \lim_{h \to 0} \dfrac{2hx + h^2}{h}

\:\:\:\:\: \displaystyle= \lim_{h \to 0} (2x +h)

Rewrite square root of -49 -4 in complex number notation please help
SVEN [57.7K]

Note that if i^2=-1 than i=\sqrt{-1},

Also note that \sqrt{ab}=\sqrt{a}\sqrt{b}

So we have,

\sqrt{-49}=\sqrt{-1}\sqrt{49}=\boxed{7i}

and,

\sqrt{-4}=\sqrt{-1}\sqrt{4}=\boxed{2i}

Hope this helps.
