  • you will need 2 busses to only transport the boys.
  • Mark is at (1 + 5/6) miles of his house.
<h3>How many buses would it take to carry only the boys?</h3>

We know that there are (3 + 1/2) groups, such that each group fill one bus.

2/5 of the students are boys, then the number of groups that we can make only with boys is:

(2/5)*(3 + 1/2) = 6/5 + 1/5 = 7/5 = 5/5 + 2/5 = 1 + 2/5

Then you can make one and a little less than a half of a group, which means that you need 1 and 2/5 of a buss to transport the boys, rounding that to the a whole number, you will need 2 busses to only transport the boys.

<h3>How far is Mark from his house?</h3>

The original distance is:

D = (2 + 3/4) miles.

But Mark only covers 2/3 of that distance, then we have:

d = (2/3)*D = (2/3)*(2 + 3/4) miles = (4/3 + 2/4) miles

d = (4/3 + 1/2) miles = (8/6 + 3/6) miles = (1 + 5/6) miles

Mark is at (1 + 5/6) miles of his house.

If you draw a card with a value of four or less from a standard deck of cards I will pay you $43 if not you pay me $10. Step 1.
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

The expected value of the game is its average earnings

  • The expected value of a round is $2.23
  • The expected value when the game is played 755 times is $1683.65

<h3>How to determine the expected value of a round</h3>

There are 12 cards with a value of 4 or less.

So, the probability of selecting a card with a value of 4 or less is:

P(x \le 4) = \frac{12}{52}

The probability of selecting a card with a value more than 4 is the complement of the above probability.

So, we have:

P(x > 4) = 1 - \frac{12}{52}

P(x > 4) =  \frac{40}{52}

The expected value is then calculated as:

E(x) = \frac{12}{52} * 43 - \frac{40}{52} * 10

Evaluate

E(x) = \frac{12* 43 - 40 * 10}{52}

E(x) = \frac{116}{52}

Simplify

E(x) = 2.23

Hence, the expected value of a round is $2.23

<h3>The expected value when the game is played 755 times</h3>

In (a), we have:

E(x) = 2.23

In probability, we have:

E(nx) = n * E(x)

So, we have:

E(755x) = 755 * 2.23

E(755x) = 1683.65

Hence, the expected value when the game is played 755 times is $1683.65

Algebra 2: answer these three questions. all of the questions are in the picture below
Kisachek [45]

1)

i) Reflection about y axis i.e. x=0

ii) Horizontal shrink by scale factor 4

iii) vertical shift by 4 units up.

-----------------------------------

2) f(x) passes through (1,-1) and (0,1)

So slope = (1+1)/(0-1) = -2

Using point slope form equation of f(x) is

y-1 = -2 (x-0) or y = -2x+1

g(x) passes through (0,-1) and (1,1)

Slope = (2/1) = 2

So using point slope form g(x) is

y-1=2x

Hence we find that y-1 = -2x is transformed into y-1 = 2x

i.e. there is a reflection of f(x) on the line y =1
