A black guinea pig crossed with a guinea pig with albinism produced 12 black offspring When the albino was crossed with a second

black animal, six blacks and six albinos were obtained. What is the best explanation for this genetic situation? (A) Albinism is a recessive trait; black is a dominant trait. (B) Albinism is a dominant trait; black is incompletely dominant. (C) Albinism and black are codominant. (D) Albinism is a recessive trait; black is codominant.

The best explanation for the creation of six blacks as well as six albinos from the given cross is that (A) Albinism is a recessive trait; black is a dominant trait.

Albinism is a recessive trait. It is expressed only in an individual's genotype contains a pair of the recessive allele 'a', that is responsible for causing albinism.

Black skin color in guinea pig is a dominant trait which does not allows the recessive trait to be expressed.

Thus, guinea pigs having the genotype 'aa' will exhibit albinism while those having the dominant allele for black color will have black skin color.

Which enzyme is responsible for ""unzipping"" the dna double helix?
tigry1 [53]

Answer:

Helicase

Explanation:

The DNA double helix is unzipped by the enzyme *HELICASE*. The enzyme breaks the hydrogen bond between the bases thereby causing the strands of the double helicase to unzip. The action of the helicase enzyme uses energy from ATP. The unzipping of the double helix does not occur in a swift move. One end of the DNA molecule with 5'-3' is opened up showing the antiparallel single strands. The end that is opened is termed INITIATION SITE of replication. The opening look like someone standing with legs wide open. The wide opening is called REPLICATION FORK. The single strands of the fork are usually unstable but their stability is maintained by the DNA-binding-proteins. Having opened the double helix, the replication would then continue in the 5'-3' direction of one of the two antiparallel single strands.
