<h3>What is the pareto-optimal frontier?</h3>

No individual or preference criterion can be made better off without at least one of them becoming worse off, which is known as Pareto efficiency or Pareto optimality. When no additional adjustments to the economy can make one person better off without also making another person worse off, the economy is said to be in a Pareto optimal state. The concept of Pareto optimality, also known as Pareto efficiency, is widely applied in economics. It represents a condition in which there are no more ways to increase society's well-being through resource reallocation that benefits at least one individual without harming another.

The Pareto front, also known as the Pareto frontier or the Pareto set, is the collection of all Pareto efficient solutions in multi-objective optimization. The idea is frequently applied in engineering. Pareto efficiency is crucial because it offers a flimsy but frequently used yardstick for contrasting economic results. It's a flawed criteria because the Pareto test doesn't explain how to choose between the several feasible scenarios.

Answer:

With mitigation: NPV =$36,670,000, IRR= 15,24%

Without mitigation: NPV= $ 42,000,000, IRR= 19,86%

Explanation:

To calculate the Net Present Value (NPV) we have to sum the present value of a project´s cash flows (positive and negative cashflows). To do so, we need: the number of periods of the project, the discount rate, cost of captal  or WACC, and the future values of the cash flows. Then we apply the formula attached.

To calculate the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) we have to find the discount rate, cost of capital or WACC that makes the NPV equal to cero. That means we have to find a rate in which the investor do not create or destroy value, only recovers the investment. I attached the formula.

But, this is better if we use excel:

First we copy the cash flows of the two projects. To find the NPV we use the financial formula "NPV" in this way:

"=NPV(rate;cash flows from year 1 to year 5)+ cash flow of year 0"

To find the IRR we use the financial formula "IRR" in this way:

"=IRR(cash flows from year 0 to year 5)"

I attached the excel figure.

Kenneth Corporation expects to incur indirect overhead costs of $166,400 per month and direct manufacturing costs of $22 per uni
Eva8 [605]

Explanation:

The computation is shown below:

1.  For Predetermined overhead rate

Predetermined overhead rate = (Total estimated manufacturing overhead for 4 months) ÷ (Total number of units)

where,

Total estimated direct manufacturing cost is

= $166,400 × 4 months

= $665,600

And, the total number of units is

= 4,700 units + 8,700 units + 4,300 units + 7,900 units

= 25,600 units

So, the predetermined overhead rate is

= $665,600 ÷ 25,600 units

= $26 per unit

2. Now the allocated cost for each month is shown below:

For January

= 4,700 units × $26

= $122,200

For February

= 8,700 units × $26

= $226,200

For March

= 4,300 units × $26

= $111,800

For April

= 7,900 units × $26

= $205,400

c. Now the total cost per unit is

= $22 + $26

= $48 per unit

A firm operates in a perfectly competitive industry. Suppose it has a short run total cost function given by TC= 10000 +0.04q2 .
iren2701 [21]

Answer:

700

Explanation:

The condition for maximizing profits is Marginal cost = Price.

1. We need to calculate the marginal cost, which is the first derivative of the total cost function.

  • marginal cost = (TC=10000+0.04q2=) '

  • MC=0.08q

2. Now, we equalize the MC to the price and solve for q.

0.08q=56

q=56/0.08

<h2>q=700</h2>
