The city covers eight square miles (21 km2) and 80 to 90 percent of the valley's total population resides in Teotihuacan. Besides the pyramids, Teotihuacan is also anthropologically significant with its multifamily residences, Avenue of the Dead, and lively, well-preserved murals.
