in order to find the area, we should break up the figure. you can see that in the image we have a quarter of a circle and a square. here are the areas for each of these shapes

square:

area = {x}^{2}

circle:

area = \pi {r}^{2}

but since we only have a quarter of this circle we need to divide the area by 4 so the formula becomes

\frac{\pi {r}^{2} }{4}

now we can plug in our numbers

we are given 6 m for our radius or length of square

the square will be (6)^2 = 36 m^2

now onto our circle

π(6)^2/4 = 28.26 m^2

now add these two shapes together to find the total area = 64.26 m^2
