A- It will be smaller, because we're finding a part of a number, and it's no more than 100 percent.
B- It would be greater. It's more than 100 percent, which accounts for the whole value, and goes even more.
Hope this helps!

Suppose P( A) = 0.60, P( B) = 0.85, and A and B are independent. The probability of the complement of the event ( A and B) is: a
diamong [38]

Answer: a. 0.4 × 0.15 = 0.060

Step-by-step explanation: Probability of the complement of an event is the one that is not part of the event.

For P(A):

P(A') = 1 - 0.6

P(A') = 0.4

For P(B):

P(B') = 1 - 0.85

P(B') = 0.15

To determine probability of A' and B':

P(A' and B') = P(A')*P(B')

P(A' and B') = 0.4*0.15

P(A' and B') = 0.06

Probability of the complement of the event is 0.060

Matthew is packing 120 pencils and 108 notebooks
Rasek [7]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

 • 12 boxes
 • 10 pencils, 9 notebooks

Step-by-step explanation:

a) The number of boxes will be the greatest common divisor (GCD) of the numbers 120 and 108. That number is 12.

 120 = 12×10

 108 = 12×9 . . . . 12 is the greatest common divisor

Matthew can make 12 boxes with equal numbers of the items.

__

b) 120 pencils divided by 12 will be 10 pencils per box.

108 notebooks divided by 12 will be 9 notebooks per box.

_____

Additional comment

It helps to be familiar with multiplication tables up to about 12×12.

The GCD can always be found using Euclid's algorithm. Look at the remainder when the larger number is divided by the smaller. If it is not zero, then replace the larger number with the remainder and repeat. If the remainder is zero, the divisor is the GCD.

Here, we have ...

 120/108 = 1 r 12.

 108/12 = 9 r 0 ⇒ 12 is the GCD

Hello!

The answer is:

The area of this figure is 946 square inches.

Why?

We can see that the figure is composed by two rectangles with diferrent dimensions, so, to calculate the area of the entire figure.

So,

For the first rectangle, we have:

Base=7in\\Height=28in

The area will be:

Area=Base*Height=7in*28in=196in^{2}

For the second rectangle, we have:

Base=25in\\Height=30in

The area will be:

Area=Base*Height=30in*25in=750in^{2}

Now, calculating the area of the entire figure, we have:

TotalArea=FirstRectangleArea+SecondRectangleArea\\\\TotalArea=196in^{2}+750in^{2}=946in^{2}

Have a nice day!
