If 2000 ml is infused over 7 days, the flow rate will be 2.98gtts/min

The amount of fluid traveling through a pipe's cross-section in a given amount of time would be known as the flow rate. It should be the fluid volume divided by the flow rate.

Given data:

total volume = 2000ml

time =7 days

convert this to min (7x24x60 =10080min)

flow rate = gtts/min ?

The flow rate is calculated by the nurse in drops per minute (gtts/min).

To calculate this, one must know the administration set drop factor, which is a constant

Macro drip tubing administers a larger drop and may be used for 10 gtts/mL, 15 gtts/mL or 20 gtts/mL.

if 1ml =15gtts/ml then 2000ml will be = x?

x=2000×15=30,000

now divide it with time 10080 = 30000/10080 =2.976

=2.98gtts/min

Hence, the flow rate will be 2.98gtts/min
