If a purely competitive constant-cost industry is realizing economic profits, we can expect industry supply to
NeTakaya

Answer:

Option “A” Increase, output to increase, price to decrease, and profits to decrease.

Explanation:

Option A is the correct answer because the purely competitive industry is the one in which there are free entry and exit of firms. Generally, firms enter when there is economic profit in the industry. In this way, the economic profit of the industry will attract new firms to enter the industry. Accordingly, new firms will enter the industry. As a result of the entry of new firms in the market, the supply of goods and services (industry supply) will increase which will result in a decrease in the prices of the commodity. This decrease in price will result in lower profit.

hurricane destroys most of the fishing boats on the Macro Islands but leaves the lobster traps untouched. Boats are not needed t
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

No shift in the demand-supply curve

Explanation:

There will be an increase in demand, since the available supply will be limited.

Meanwhile, no shift in a demand or supply curve occurs when a good's quantity demanded or supplied does not changes even though price remains the same. For instance, if the price for the lobster was $2 and the quantity of beer demanded does not change  from Q1 to Q2, then there would be no shift in the demand for lobster. Shifts in the demand curve imply that the original demand relationship has changed, meaning that quantity demand is affected by a factor other than price, which in this case is none, since the  damage of the fishing boats does not affect the collection of trapped lobsters. No shift in the demand relationship would occur if, since the boat are not needed  to get lobsters.
