-75.6 Jmol^{-1}K^{-1} is the ΔS°rxn for the formation of Cu₂O(s) from its elements.

WHAT IS  ΔS°rxn FOR THE REACTION ?

The direction of spontaneous change is the direction in which total entropy increases. Total entropy change, also called the entropy change of the universe, is the sum of the entropy change of a system and of its surroundings

Standard entropy change of below reaction (ΔS°_{rxn})

2Cu(s) + \frac{1}{2} O_2(g) --------- > Cu_2O      ∴ ΔH°_{rxn} = - 168.6 KJ/mol

Now, \Delta S^o_{rxn} = S^o_{(products)} - S^o_{(reactants)}

                   = S^o_{Cu_2 O(s)} - [2 * S^o_{Cu(s)} + \frac{1}{2}(S^o_{O_2(g)}]

                   = (93.1 J/molK)- [2 * 133.1 + \frac{1}{2}(205.0)]J/molK

                   = - 75.6 J/molK

Thus, -75.6 J/mol K is the ΔS°rxn for the formation.

Which of the following is not a primary function of the products of the pentose phosphate pathway? a. To maintain levels of NADP
zlopas [31]

Answer: The correct answer is D.

Explanation:

As you can see in every step of the pathway, ATP is not generated directly. Although, in the oxidative phase, molecules of NADPH are produced and these can be used for synthesize ATP indirectly; the NADPH molecules are hihgly demanded in tissues that carry out constantly synthesis of fatty acids, such as liver.

Therefore the correct answer is D.

Are ions always smaller than their neutral atoms
Arturiano [62]

Answer:

The negative ion is larger than the original atom. but the same number of positive protons, the size of the ionic radius will increase. When an atom has its electrons attracted to another atom it becomes a positive ion. The positive ion is smaller than the original atom.

Calculate the concentration 3.8g of copper sulfate, CuSO4 dissolved in 250cm4 of water
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]

Answer:

Molarity = 0.08 M

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of copper sulfate = 3.8 g

Volume of water = 250 cm³  (250/1000 = 0.25 L)

Concentration of solution = ?

Solution:

Number of moles of copper sulfate:

Number of moles = mass/molar mass

Number of moles = 3.8 g/ 159.6 g/mol

Number of moles = 0.02 mol

Concentration:

Molarity = Number of moles / volume in L

By putting values,

Molarity = 0.02 mol / 0.25 L

Molarity = 0.08 mol/L

Molarity = 0.08 M
