Answer:

The number of elephant ears that must be sold to maximize profit is 400.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

The profit that a vendor makes per day is given by

P(x)= - 0.004x² +3.2 x -200

where x is number of elephant ears.

P(x)= - 0.004x² +3.2 x -200

Differentiating with respect to x

P'(x)= - 0.008x+3.2

Again differentiating with respect to x

P''(x) = -0.008

For maximum or minimum P'(x)=0

- 0.008x+3.2=0

⇒0.008x=3.2

\Rightarrow x=\frac{3.2}{0.008}

⇒ x = 400

P''(x)|_{x=400} = -0.008

Since at x=400, P''(x)<0, the profit is maximize.

P(400) = -0.004×400²+3.2×400-200

          =440

The number of elephant ears that must be sold to maximize profit is 400.

Determine the values of the variables in the parallelograms below help me please
PolarNik [594]

Answer:

Part 1)

x=-11

m=170\°

Part 2)

x=-5, x=1

m=-10, m=14

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

In a parallelogram opposite sides and opposite angles are congruent, and consecutive angles are supplementary

Part 1)

<u>Find the value of x</u>

25=-3x-8 ----> opposite sides are congruent

solve for x

25=-3x-8

3x=-8-25

x=-33/3=-11

<u>Find the value of m</u>

(70+(m-60))=180\° ----> consecutive angles are supplementary

solve for m

m=180\°-10\°=170\°

Part 2)

<u>Find the value of x</u>

5=x^{2}+4x ---> opposite sides are congruent

using a graphing tool

see the attached figure N 1

The solutions are

x=-5, x=1

<u>Find the value of m</u>

(m^{2}-4m)=140\° ---> opposite sides are congruent

solve for m

using a graphing tool

see the attached figure N 2

The solutions are

m=-10, m=14
