<h3>What is myocarditis?</h3>
  • Myocarditis is a condition in which there is inflammation of the heart muscle or myocardium.
  • Inflammation affects the ability of the heart to pump blood to other organs.
  • The symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath, etc.
  • The client should be in bed rest to reduce workload on heart and thus help in healing.
  • The head should be elevated to promote breathing and blood flow.
  • The main cause of myocarditis is viral infection. It may also be caused due to bacteria, fungi and some parasites.
  • Medications which improve heart function should be taken.
  • In extreme cases, a device can be used to improve functioning of the heart.
