The oxygen molecule from the atmosphere enters due to inhalation. Most of these molecules are bonded to the hemoglobin protein and are delivered to the blood through an exchange system. Some of these compounds disintegrate in the bloodstream's plasma. The release of bound oxygen to maintain dissolved oxygen levels results from the decrease in dissolved oxygen in the plasma.

Hemoglobin's affinity for oxygen reduces as blood plasma's pH drops (or turns more acidic). This is because H+ ions bind to hemoglobin amino acids more frequently as blood plasma gets more acidic. The Bohr effect is a name for this. As plasma pH rises (=becomes more basic; alkaline), the situation changes.

11. Mountain ranges close to coastal regions have
Alexandra [31]

The species likely living in an ecosystem on the other side of the mountain farthest from the coast is the cactus.

  • Cacti are evergreen plants. Their stems might be meaty or succulent, cylindrical or flattened.
  • The stems are green in colour and photosynthetic, usually fulfilling this job instead of leaves, which are scarce or nonexistent in most adult cacti.

Most cactus species are well-defended by spiky bristles and spines that repel most animals.

  • Cacti are xerophytic plants, which means they are physiologically and morphologically suited to the high water shortages of dry ecosystems like deserts.
  • Cacti's xerophytic adaptations include (1) succulent, water-retaining stems, (2) a thick, waxy cuticle, and few or no leaves to decrease water losses through transpiration.

How are embryonic stem cells different from other types of stem cells?
Oksi-84 [34.3K]
These include each of the more than 220 cell types in the adult body. Pluripotency distinguishes embryonic stem cells from adult stem cells found in adults; while embryonic stem cells can generate all cell types in the body, adult stem cells are multipotent and can produce only a limited number of cell types.

Bacteria reproduce by simple cell division. What is the official name for this class of cell division?
irina [24]

Answer:

E) Binary fission

Explanation:

Bacteria can simply divide by binary fission, an asexual reprodution where single bacterial body separates into two bodies. During this process bacteria duplicates its DNA content so that when the body separates by cytokinesis, each has its own DNA material.

Explain the importance of promiscuous binding specificity exhibited by mhc class i and class ii molecules.
Oksanka [162]

It allows cells and antigen presenting cells to present a large range of antigens (in the range if millions) to T cells so there is an appropriate immune response against the invading pathogen or cancer.  This is possible without changing or having many types of MHC complexes.
