Gemstones are commonly found in pegmatites, which are igneous rocks that are exceptionally coarse grained.

Pegmatite are the igneous rocks which are crystalline in nature and are exceptionally coarse grained.  It is composed of 33.6 percent albite, 30.4 percent quartz, 21 percent perthite and 14 percent muscovite.

They contain exceptionally large crystals and are also called as architectural stones.

Gemstones are pieces of mineral crystals which is cut and polished to form jewelry and other ornamental items.

Gemstones are commonly found in pegmatites like topaz, tourmaline, kunzite, blue aquamarine, pink morganite.

Pegmatite are mined for both gemstones and rare earth minerals.
