Given that Q is a point between P and R, the numerical values of x, segment PQ, QR and PR are 11, 30, 22 and 52 respectively.

<h3>What are the numerical values of x, segment PQ, QR and PR?</h3>

Given the data in the question;

  • Q is a point between P and R
  • Segment PR = 5x - 3
  • Segment PQ = 2x + 8
  • Segment QR = x + 11
  • Numerical value of x, segment PQ, QR and PR = ?

Since Q is a point between P and R.

PR = PQ + QR

Plug in the given values and solve for x.

5x - 3 = ( 2x + 8 ) + ( x + 11 )

5x - 3 = 2x + 8 + x + 11

5x - 3 = 3x + 19

5x - 3x = 19 + 3

2x = 22

x = 22/2

x = 11

Numerical value of segment PQ when x = 11 will be;

PQ = 2x + 8 = 2(11) + 8 = 30

Numerical value of segment QR when x = 11 will be;

QR = x + 11 = (11) + 11 = 22

Numerical value of segment PR when x = 11 will be;

PR = 5x - 3 = 5(11) - 3 = 52

Given that Q is a point between P and R, the numerical values of x, segment PQ, QR and PR are 11, 30, 22 and 52 respectively.

Christian has a cookie recipe that yields four dozen cookies and calls for 2 1/4 cups white sugar and 3/4 cup brown sugar.cif ch
Paha777 [63]

The ingredients given are for 4 dozen cookies; however, Christian only want to make one dozen, meaning he requires only 1/4 the ingredients.

1/4 of 2 1/4 cups of while sugar is found the following way.

First, we write 2 1/4 as an improper fraction

2\frac{1}{4}=2+\frac{1}{4}=\frac{9}{4}

1/4 of this is

\frac{9}{4}\times\frac{1}{4}=\frac{9}{16}

Hence, Christian requires 9/16 cups of white sugar.

Similarly, the 1/4 of 3/4 cups of brown sugar is

\frac{1}{4}\times\frac{3}{4}=\frac{3}{16}

Hence, Chrisitan requires 3/16 cups of brown sugar.

Therefore, the total cups of sugar required is the sum of

\frac{3}{16}+\frac{9}{16}=\frac{12}{16}=\frac{3}{4}

3/4 cups of sugar.

A karate studio charges $35 for the first course and $22. 50 for each course after that, even if the student leaves the course e
VashaNatasha [74]

The Cena can take 7 courses

We have given that the karate charges $35 for the first course and $22.50 for each course after that. Our total is $170.

<h3>What is the condition we can write here?</h3>

22.50x + 35 = 170

for solving this linear equation

First, subtract 35 from both sides.

22.50x = 135

isolate x so divide both sides by 22.50.

x=\frac{135}{22.50}

Therefore we get x = 6

Remember to add the additional class, so x is actually 7.

So,the Cena can take 7 courses.
