To identify the molecule that accepts CO₂ , Calvin and Benson manipulated the carbonfixation cycle by either cutting off CO₂ or

cutting off light from cultures of photosynthetic algae. They then measured the concentrations of various metabolites immediately following the manipulation. How would these experiments help identify the CO₂ acceptor? a. The CO₂ acceptor concentration would decrease when either the CO₂ or light are cut off. b. The CO₂ acceptor concentration would increase when either the CO₂ or light are cut off. c. The CO₂ acceptor concentration would decrease when the CO₂ is cut off, but increase when the light is cut off. d. The CO 2 acceptor concentration would increase when the CO₂ is cut off, but decrease when the light is cut off.

To identify the molecule that accepts CO_{2}, Calvin and Benson manipulated the carbon-fixation cycle by either cutting off CO_{2} or cutting off light from cultures of photosynthetic algae. They then measured the concentrations of various metabolites immediately following the manipulation. The CO_{2} acceptor concentration would increase when the CO_{2} is cut off, but decrease when the light is cut off.

The correct option is d.

The process through which living things absorb inorganic carbon from the atmosphere and transform it into organic molecules is known as carbon fixation. These substances are employed as chemical energy storage. For life to continue, it is a necessary process.

Calvin and Benson disrupted the carbon-fixation cycle by either removing CO_{2} or removing light from cultures of photosynthetic algae in order to find the molecule that takes CO_{2}. Following the alteration, they evaluated the concentrations of several metabolites.

What is going on in this image?
Nuetrik [128]

The image shows the transcription process in which mRNA is being synthesized. DNA double strands open in the transcription bubble and RNA polymerase acts there to add the correct nucleotides.

<h3>What is transcription?</h3>

In protein synthesis, the first step is to synthesize messenger RNA, mRNA.

Transcription is the coping process of the DNA section, occurs inside the nucleus membrane, and uses fragments of DNA molecules to do it.

During transcription, the DNI molecule separates into two strands to form the transcription bubble. At this point, two strands can identify, the coding strand and the template strand.

  • The coding strand goes in direction 5' to 3' and carries the same nucleotides as mRNA, except for thymine which is replaced by uracyl in the RNA molecule.

  • The template -complementary- DNI strand is read in direction 3´→ 5´ to build the mRNA molecule in direction 5´→ 3´.

While growing, the mRNA strand complements the DNA template strand. Bases complementation is as follows,

  • Adenine pairs DNA Thymine
  • Uracyl pairs DNA Adenine
  • Guanine pairs Cytosine
  • Cytosine pairs Guanine

The enzyme RNA polymerase reads the original DNI strand to add the correct nucleotides during mRNA synthesis.

Once transcription is over, mRNA moves to the cytoplasm to begin the translation process.

In the image we can see

1) the DNA molecule at the left. We can differenciate the template strand from the coding one.

2) the transcription bubble and RNA polymerase acting there.

3) Growing mRNA which complements the template strand

4) Available free nucleotides which are added to the polymere

Which best explains how the body maintains homeostasis?
kolezko [41]

McBossatronio,

The answer is the first option "all systems work together to stabilize the body." Homeostasis is the internal conditions that all living things have basically meaning how the body keeps cool during hot weather, or warm during cold weather.  You ever wonder why you sweat when it's hot, or shiver when it's cold that's your body keeping warm and cool which helps all your systems work together.

Hope this helps!

How is solar energy absorbed and admitted by earths surface?
mylen [45]

Answer:

About 23 percent of incoming solar energy is absorbed in the atmosphere by water vapor, dust, and ozone, and 48 percent passes through the atmosphere and is absorbed by the surface. Of the 340 watts per square meter of solar energy that falls on the Earth, 29% is reflected back into space, primarily by clouds, but also by other bright surfaces and the atmosphere itself. About 23% of incoming energy is absorbed in the atmosphere by atmospheric gases, dust, and other particles. The remaining 48% is absorbed at the surface
