The decision had led to the lowering down of the power of Debs and labor unions.

Eugene. V. Debs, was the President of Railway union in America in 1894 and held up a strike in 1894, where he strongly challenged, the Federal government which had ordered that those who were on strike,

<em> "they might be </em><em>fired</em><em> from their jobs if they won't went back to work"</em>

It is claimed that, the order was in the response of violent phase of strike, but Debs rejected and refused to give up and appealed in higher court.

The major question of debate put forward by Debs was,

<em>"weather the</em><em> Federal government</em><em> had any right to issue the orders which deals with the interstate commerce and shipping on railway cars".</em>

It is considered that, the main focus of this bill was to prevent the obstructions on the highways, which were carrying the interstate commerce and trade,

and the facts presented before court were proving that, the defenders were involved in causing obstructions on the highways.
