When the atmospheric CO₂ concentration was doubled, C₃ plants would have faster growth rates; C₄ plants would be minimally affected.

C₃ plants follow the Calvin cycle or C₃ cycle. In C₃ cycle, RuBP is the first acceptor of carbon. In the presence of more atmospheric CO₂, the photosynthetic ability of the plants increases and therefore their growth increases rapidly.

C₄ plants follow C₄ cycle. The initial carbon acceptor of the cycle is PEP. Since the Calvin cycle of C₄ plants is not in direct contact with the atmospheric CO₂, therefore elevated atmospheric CO₂ concentration does not affect the plant much.

(c) why is phosphorylation effective for regulating the activity of proteins? select all that apply.
hodyreva [135]

ATP is the phosphoryl group donor

The free energy of the phosphorylation reaction is large.

Phosphorylation is known to be an effective way of regulating protein and in eukaryotic cells, about 30% pf the protein are phosphorylated. Thus, the enzyme responsible for the phosphorylation reaction is known as kinases. However, ATP is required in the process phosphorylation because it is needed as a donor.
