Using the midpoint concept, it is found that the value of a is of a = 2.

<h3>What are the coordinates of the points?</h3>

Researching this problem on a search engine, the coordinates are given as follows:

  • F(b + 1, a + 2).
  • M(3,5).
  • (2a, 3b+3).

<h3>What is the midpoint concept?</h3>

The midpoint between two points is the halfway point between them, and is found using the mean of the coordinates.

Hence the following system of equations can be built:

(b + 1 + 2a)/2 = 3.

b + 1 + 2a = 6.

b = 5 - 2a.

(a + 2 + 3b + 3)/2 = 5

a + 3b + 5 = 10

a + 3b = 5.

Since b = 5 - 2a, we have that:

a + 15 - 6a = 5.

5a = 10

a = 10/5

a = 2.

The value of a is of a = 2.

[Calculus, Derivatives] Can a function be differentiable at certain points even if the entire function is not differentiable?
koban [17]

A function is differentiable if you can find the derivative at every point in its domain. In the case of f(x) = |x+2|, the function wouldn't be considered differentiable unless you specified a certain sub-interval such as (5,9) that doesn't include x = -2. Without clarifying the interval, the entire function overall is not differentiable even if there's only one point at issue here (because again we look at the entire domain). Though to be fair, you could easily say "the function f(x) = |x+2| is differentiable everywhere but x = -2" and would be correct. So it just depends on your wording really.

7. Consider the purchase of two cereal boxes.
AveGali [126]

Answer:

a) 0.25

b) 0.25

c) 0.0625

Step-by-step explanation:

The complete question is:

Do you remember when breakfast cereal companies placed prizes in boxes of cereal? Possibly you recall that when a certain prize or toy was particularly special to children, it increased their interest in trying to get that toy. How many boxes of cereal would a customer have to buy to get that toy? Companies used this strategy to sell their cereal.

One of these companies put one of the following toys in its cereal boxes: a block (B), a toy watch (W), a toy ring (R), and a toy airplane (A). A machine that placed the toy in the box was programmed to select a toy by drawing a random number of 1 to 4. If a 1 was selected, the block (or B) was placed in the box; if a 2 was selected, a watch (or W) was placed in the box; if a 3 was selected, a ring (or R) was placed in the box; and if a 4 was selected, an airplane (or A) was placed in the box. When this promotion was launched, young children were especially interested in getting the toy airplane.

What is the probability of getting an airplane in the first cereal box?

Since the machine randomly selects toys, each toy has the same probability of being obtained in a cereal box.

Then, the total outcomes are 4 and the probability of getting an airplane in the first cereal box is 0.25 (25%).

What is the probability of getting an airplane in the second cereal box?

Two independent events do not change the probability of occurrence of one event or another.

The probability of getting an airplane in the second cereal box is 0.25 (25%).

What is the probability of getting airplanes in both cereal boxes?

P(1°∩2°)= P(1°) × P(2°) = \frac{1}{4} \times \frac{1}{4} =\frac{1}{16}

P(1°∩2°)= 0.0625 = 6.25%

How do find length and width if you have the area?
chubhunter [2.5K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a rectangle(A) related to the length (L) and WITDH (W) of its sides by the following Relationship:A=L W if you know the width is easy to find the length rearranging this equation to get L=A÷w if you know the length and want width rearranged to get W=A÷L this is the formula not the answer.
