When money is unexpectedly received after a write off, the amount first has to be retrieved from the Allowance for Doubtful Debt and taken back to the Accounts Receivables and then it can be recorded as Cash received.

Allowance for Doubtful Debt

January 2

DR Accounts Receivable - Terry Richman $2,000

CR Sales $2,000

(To record sale of goods to Terry Richman on Account)

April 15

DR Cash $600

CR Accounts Receivable - Terry Richman $600

(To record cash received from Terry Richman)

August 21

DR Allowance for Doubtful Debt $1,400

CR Accounts Receivable - Terry Richman $1,400

(To record write off of Terry Richman Account)

October 5

DR Accounts Receivable - Terry Richman $300

CR Allowance for Doubtful Debt $300

October 5

DR Cash $300

CR Accounts Receivable $300

(To record Cash Received from Terry Richman)

Workings and Notes.

Terry Richman paid $600 out of their $2,000 debt before declaring bankruptcy.

= 2,000 - 600

= $1,400.

This is why $1,400 was the written off figure.

When an Receivables account is written off, it is debited to the Allowance for Doubtful Debt Account.

bogdanovich [222]

Lexie's interviews are not as effective because she does not care about the professional training of the people she will hire, which can have serious consequences on the operation of the company. On the other hand, the referral system would also hinder the operation of the company because the skills or abilities of the employees are not verified.

When we do a recruitment process, we must have several aspects in common to hire or dismiss a job applicant. Among the aspects that must be taken into account are:

 • Work experience.
 • Vocational training.
 • Other experiences.

Following the foregoing, the person in charge of the selection process must objectively select the candidate who best fits a job based on her experience or professional training.

According to the above, Lexie is limiting her liability because she only looks at aspects of the applicants' personal lives without evaluating their ability to perform a job. Additionally, you should carry out some tests on the applicants to verify their work capabilities.

On the other hand, in the referral system, she has several limitations because she accepts the criteria of another individual or organization to hire a person without herself evaluating him to fit the job that she requires.

satela [25.4K]

Answer:

Option C is the correct answer.

Debit Depletion Expense $1,358,500; credit Accumulated Depletion $1,358,500.

Explanation:

Fortune Drilling Company acquires a mineral deposit at a cost of $5,900,000. It incurs additional costs of $600,000 to access the deposit, which is estimated to contain 2,000,000 tons and is expected to take 5 years to extract. Compute the depletion expense for the first year assuming 418,000 tons were mined.

Depletion expense = ( Mineral Deposit Cost + Additional cost)/ Estimate Extraction * N0 of ton extracted in first year

Depletion expense = (5900000 + 600000)/2000000 * 418000

Depletion expense = $ 1,358,500
