According to Skinner, "The behavior observed when a man problem-solving is distinguished by the fact that it modifies another portion of his behavior and is reinforced and strengthened when it does so" (Vaughan & Michael, 1982, p. 220-221).

In other words, they are employing a skill they already possess to address a problem. If he can use the behavior to solve problems, it might stay on his list; otherwise, a new behavior might start. When we problem-solving, we frequently consider our own possible solutions. We do not think as deeply as grownups when we are small children. We have grown from our past errors.

We occasionally look for support from others and social validation.

Additionally, the reading emphasizes the existence of both automatic positive and negative problem-solving abilities. We are punished when we make a mistake, and we frequently learn from it and don't repeat it. That oversight will be recalled.

In what two ways did John Garcia’s research challenge the traditional principles of classical conditioning?
worty [1.4K]

John Garcia was an American psychologist very well-known for his researches that focused on taste aversion in rats and for discovering conditioning taste aversion. Taste aversion is often developed after having a drink or food that causes nausea, vomiting or sickness afterwards. Garcia challenged the idea that:

- any association can be learned equally well.

- conditioning  takes place in an even faster and stronger manner when the conditioned stimulus is ecologically relevant.

Therefore, the ability to develop a taste aversion works as a survival mechanism. And, regardless of the taste of the food, sights and sounds, ones can tricky themselves into not liking the taste simply because they relate sickness with it.
