For the first time since the 1950s, the Republican Party captured control of both the house of representatives and the senate in 1994. This happened in the United States mid-term congressional elections in 1994 when the Republican party won 54 seats in the house of representatives and 8 seats in the senate after approximately 40 years.

This success of the Republican Party is also referred to as the “Republican Revolution” or “Gingrich Revolution”. The Republican Party, acquired with the acronym GOP (Grand Old Party) is one of the two significant political parties in the United States. The another one is the Democratic Party.

In 1994, the Republican Party was led by Newt Gingrich who later became the new Speaker of the House.

The reasons for the revision of the article.

The reason why the article was to be revised was the fact that it lacked the ability to assign several powers to the federal government of the country.
