NH₄I is an acidic salt.

When an aqueous solution contains such salt, then the pH of the aqueous solution is less than 7. The pH of the aqueous solution depends upon the salt ions, and how strong an ion acts with water molecules. The aqueous solution of a salt produced by a strong acid and a weak base is acidic in nature.

What do we know about ammonium iodide?

NH4I is the chemical name for ammonium iodide. It is a component of various medicines and photography chemicals. Hydroiodic acid may be used to make it by reacting with ammonia. It is readily soluble in water, where it forms cube-shaped crystals. It dissolves in ethanol as well. When exposed to damp air, it progressively becomes yellow as a result of iodine being released during decomposition.

Calculate the percent ionization of 1.55 m aqueous acetic acid solution. for acetic acid, ka=1.8⋅10−5.
Fittoniya [83]
Answer is: percent ionization of aqueous acetic acid solution is 0.341%.
c(CH₃COOH) = 1.55 M.
Ka(CH₃COOH) = 1.8·10⁻⁵.
Chemical reaction: CH₃COOH ⇄ CH₃COO⁻ + H⁺.
[CH₃COO⁻] = [H⁺] = x.
[CH₃COOH] = 1.55 M - x.
Ka = [CH₃COO⁻] · [H⁺] / [CH₃COOH].
1.8·10⁻⁵ = x² / (1.55 M - x).
Solve quadratic equation: x = 0.0053 M.
percent of ionization:
α = 0,0053 M ÷ 1.55 M · 100% = 0,341%

You have 500 mL of 5 M HCI already made. You need to dilute the solution to 1 M HCI. How much water will you need to add?
Strike441 [17]

Answer:

a. 2500 ml of water is needed

Explanation:

V1C1=V2C2

(500)(5)=(1)V2

2500/1=V2

2500 = v2

What is the formula for compound formed by Iron ( II ) ions and chromate ions?
miskamm [114]

Answer:

The formula of the compound formed by Iron (ii) ions and chromate ions is FeCrO₄

Explanation:

Iron (ii) ions, Fe²⁺ have a positive charge of +2. Chromate ions, CrO₄²⁻, on the other hand have a positive charge of -2. When iron (ii) ions and chromate ions combine two form a compound, each ion will contribute a mole of ion towards the formation of the compound. This is in line with the idea that a compound carries no charge. The positive charge (+2) of the iron (ii) ions are balanced by the negative charge of the chromate ions as shown mathematically as follows;

+2 + (-2) = 0; i.e. Fe²⁺ + CrO₄²⁻ = FeCrO₄

Therefore, the formula of the compound formed by Iron (ii) ions and chromate ions is FeCrO₄
