  • Diabetes is caused either due to the pancreatic cells not producing enough insulin or the cells of the body are not able to respond properly to the insulin produced.
  • Insulin hormone helps in absorption of glucose into the cells to be used for energy.
  • Due to lack of insulin production, the body is not able to utilize the blood glucose.
  • There are three types of diabetes mellitus: Type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes.
