Diabetes mellitus is disease which affects the ability of body to use blood sugar or glucose.
In this disease there is high blood sugar level over long periods.
Symptoms include increased thirst, increased hunger and frequent urination.
This disease can cause various health complications if it is not treated on time.
Diabetes is caused either due to the pancreatic cells not producing enough insulin or the cells of the body are not able to respond properly to the insulin produced.
Insulin hormone helps in absorption of glucose into the cells to be used for energy.
Due to lack of insulin production, the body is not able to utilize the blood glucose.
There are threetypes of diabetes mellitus: Type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes.
All of the above are important in a weight management program. Eating healthy, regular exercise, and maintaining a good weight for your height and body frame are all important factors.
