According to Sigmund Freud, human personality is complex and have more than one component. This Component of a person's personality are known as the id, the ego and the superego. The three component interact in a way to influence the personality of the person. But still each one of them have a unique contribution,

Id is the source of all psychic energy making it the source of primary component of personality. eg. desires, wants and needs

Ego is developed from Id and ensures that the impulses of Id are expressed in acceptable manner.

Superego holds the internal moral standards.
