miv72 [106K]

When the French and Indian War finally ended in 1763, no British subject on either side of the colonists tried to work with the King of England and the English government.

Each colony had its own government, but the King of England ruled these governments. In the 1770s, many settlers were angry with the lack of autonomy. This meant that could not rule themselves and would enact their own law.

They had to pay a heavy tax to the king. They felt they were paying taxes to a government representative.

They were also upset because settlers were forced to put British soldiers to sleep and feed them in's homes.

How could the security of the U.S. depend on the survival of an ally?
bekas [8.4K]
No America (the US) is unusual in history. It's continent wide size, natural resources, and great distance from other continents means it doesn't have to rely on anyone. US allies, NATO, UN, etc. are just political conveniences, to promote US trade and world stability and peace.
If all US allies disappeared tomorrow, no one in the US would notice.
This 'has' happened before in history when the US practiced 'isolationism' and shut itself off from the rest of the world.
America's allies only benefit the allies and to some extent US business, America doesn't need the allies, but America does need world peace and stability....and that means allies.
