Hydrocodone works by binding to pain receptors which is known specifically as mu opioid receptors , in the brain. It is binds to these receptors , pain signals are weakened or blocked entirely.

Using of large amounts of hydrocodone for long term effects an individual's breathing rate , which can be reduced how much oxygen their body takes in, and that can cause damage the various organ system including brain.There are some side effect of hydrocodone such as dizziness, drowsiness, vomiting, nausea and stomach pain, etc.
