Ok so the solution which greenrune will (hopefully) correct

total is 1.5
p+r=1.5
rule is 1 more than pencil
r=1+p
sub 1+p for r
p+1+p=1.5
2p+1=1.5
minus 1 from both sides
2p=0.5
divide both sides by 2
p=0.25

pencil=$0.25

Pencil + Ruler = 1.50
Ruler is exactly 1.00 more so one of the items has to be 1.25
1.25 - 1.00 = 25
Ruler costs 1.25 ; Pencil costs 25

The graph shows the distance, y, in miles, of a moving motorboat from an island for a certain amount of time, x, in hours:
lisabon 2012 [21]

Answer:  The speed of the motorboat is 70 miles per hour

Step-by-step explanation:  Subtract the initial distance, 35, from the distance at any given time, then divide the remainder by the hours.

For example, at 2 hours, the distance shown on the graph is 175 miles

Subtract: 175 -35 = 140.  Then divide 140/2 = 70

At 4 hours, the distance shown is 315 miles.

Subtract: 315 - 35 = 280. Then divide  280/4 = 70

70 mph is the speed.
