Evolutionary Psychology sees natural selection and parental investment for the sex differences in the mating strategies.

Human sex differences are a result of prehistoric male and females having to adapt to different physical and social circumstances. Survival and successful reproduction were key motivation which also became reasons for the mating strategies adopted by men and women.

With reference to the theory of natural selection, men are drawn to women who are fertile, healthy and have a long years ahead of them to bear children. Women are typically drawn to mature, assertive men who can provide for and protect the family.
