Throughout his sermon in Act 2, peter presents three pieces of evidence to convince his listeners that Jesus is God. The three pieces of evidence that peter appeals to are:

  • Peter appeals to fulfilled prophecy. This proves that Jesus was the promised Messiah.
  • He appeals to the miracles of Jesus as proof that he was from God.
  • He appeals to eyewitness accounts of Jesus' resurrection as proof that he was God.

Peter's sermon of Acts 2 is critically very significant. This is because it denotes the way apostles interpreted the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, including the Ascension. Peter marks the Old Testament in this Sermon and cites texts which were fulfilled in the events of Jesus' life, but also the events of Pentecost. Here, the significance of the holy spirit is mentioned.
