Then the equation will be this:

4.98 + 3.79x = 9.50

Subtracting 4.98 from each side we get-

4.98 -4.98 + 3.79x = 9.50-4.98

3.79x = 4.54

x  $=\frac{4.54}{3.79}$

x = 1.19788 pounds of cheese (approximately 1.2 pounds).
