Tom developed the following scientific question Do boys score higher on IQ than girls He gives the same IQ tests to two 12 years

old boys and two 12 years old girls. After checking the IQ scores on the tests he realizes that the two girls had a much higher average score than the two boys He concluded that girls have higher IQs than boys
What is wrong with the experiment:

Not Ethical

not a random example

biased replication needed sample size too small

needs a control

did not use safety skills

more than one independent variable

Data does not make sense with problem statement

Conclusion does not make sense with the data and problem statement

Name:

Independent Variable

Dependent Variable

Constant

1. The experiment conducted by Tom is wrong because of the following:

  • Not a random example (sample)
  • Sample size is too small.

2. The independent variable is the IQ test while the dependent variables are the IQ scores of the four boys and girls. The constant is the number of testers. There is no control.

3. To improve the experiment, Tom needs to increase the sample sizes of boys and girls to at least 50 boys and 50 girls to make the generalization reasonable. He should obtain the IQ scores of girls as a control to compare the IQ scores of boys.

What is an experiment?

An experiment is a scientific study conducted to support or refute a hypothesis.

An experiment involves observations and actions performed to solve a problem or make a discovery.

Thus, Tom's experiment should be improved with research methodologies.

How long would it take an investment to triple if it earns 1.5% interest, compounded monthly? Round your answer to the nearest h
dlinn [17]

Answer:

73.3 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the Compound Amount formula:

A = P(1 + r/n)^(n*t)

Here A = 3P, r = 0.015, n = 12, and so we have:

3 = (1 + 0.015/12)^(12*t).  Find t (in years)

3 = (1.00125)^(12*t)

Take the log of both sides. We get:

log 3 = (12*t)(log 1.00125), or  0.47712 = (12*t)(5.425*10^(-4)

                                                 0.47712

Solving this for t, we get   t = ---------------------------  =  73.3 years

                                                 (12)(5.425*10^(-4))

Answer:

  2.5 times per hour, on average

  {0:00, 0:24, 0:48, 1:12, 1:36} then repeating at 2:00

Step-by-step explanation:

The least common multiple of the intervals is ...

  LCM(8, 12) = 8·12/GCD(8, 12) = 8·12/4 = 24

The two buses will stop at the same time every 24 minutes. That is 60/24 = 2.5 times per hour.

Starting with the 6:00 am stop, the next joint stop is at 6:24, then 6:48. In the next hour, the stops are at 7:12 and 7:36. This sequence of times repeats, starting at 8:00 am. That is, the cycle repeats every 2 hours.
