Waste discharge and sewage adds nitrogen to the aquatic system which leads to the formation of algae preventing the sunlight reaching plant and declining growth.

What is nitrogen fixation, nitrification, assimilation and denitrification ?

 1. Nitrogen fixation is the conversion of nitrogen to ammonia which then used by the plants, and is done by bacteria like cyanobacteria into soil .
 2. Nitrification is the phenomena of conversion of ammonia into nitrite ions in the soil.
 3. Ammonification is the process of conversion into simple nitrogen containing inorganic compounds by specific bacteria.
 4. The level of nitrogen in soil often limits plant growth because the addition of nitrogen to aquatic system decline the plant growth by preventing sunlight.
