To find the area of a triangle you need the formula (base*height)/2.  We know the base is 25in however we need to find the height to have everything for the formula. If you draw a picture of this equilateral triangle so the bottom is a flat side, the height goes straight up the middle, splitting the triangle into two equal pieces.  However, to find the height, you have to use Pythagoras's theorem (a^2+b^2=c^2).  c is the hypotenuse so that is the 25in, a is half the width of the base, 12.5in, and b is what you are looking for.  When solved, b becomes about 21.65, or if you have to be exact- sqrt{468.75}.  Then plug this in for the height in the original equation.
(25*sqrt{468.75})/2≈270.63 in^2

The school water fountain can only fill 3/4 of a jug at a time. With this amount of water, Mr. Kern can water 3/8 of his plants.
Vesnalui [34]

Answer:

\frac{3}{4}  =  \frac{3}{3}   \\  \frac{3}{8}  = x \\ x =  \frac{3}{8}  \times  \frac{4}{3}  \\ x =  \frac{1}{2}

Carl is going to make a frame for a picture. The dimensions of the frame need to be 2 feet by 18 inches. How long must the board
MArishka [77]
The perimeter of an object is found by adding all of the sides.  The sides of his frame would be 2 ft, 2 ft, 1.5 ft (18 inches / 12 inches per foot = 1.5 feet), 1.5 feet.  Adding these together we get a total length of 7 feet.  However, he may want to use a slightly longer board to account for any errors!

Write an equation for the line shown in the graph
koban [17]

Answer:

y= -x+10

Step-by-step explanation:

ok, so the basic formula is y=mx+b

m=slope and b= the intercept

the line crosses the y-axis at 10, so we know that 10=b. it is a downward going slope, so its negative. the formula for slope is rise/run, or in our case, fall/run. for every 2 it falls, it runs 2. that is -2/2, which can be simplified to -1. looking at the graph , it's hard to comprehend the question at first and it took me multiple times looking at the graph. I hope I helped some!
