Countries aspire to be recognized by full nation states as another full nation states so as to have control over their territory.
1. The main concern is the concern of sovereignty.
2. The country would want complete dominion over the land that it claims.
3. It would want the rights to trade in the land and the nautical bodies that the country could lay claim.
4. They would want the right to defend themselves against foreign assailants.
5. The right to settle disputes in one's own lands if they arise there is also paramount.
