It is TRUE that the concept of the United States as a haven for those looking for economic opportunity or a path out of oppression has always coexisted with mistrust and animosity toward foreign newcomers.

A person outside of their place of citizenship who is unable or unwilling to return due to persecution or a legitimate fear of persecution due to their ethnicity, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political viewpoint is referred to as a refugee.

In FY 2020, 8 percent of refugees admitted were from Latin America and the Caribbean, 22 percent from Europe, 35 percent from Africa, and 35 percent from Asia (including the Near East/South Asia and East Asia).

Identify different groups and their positions on u.s. neutrality in the late 1930s
natka813 [3]
By the late 1930's and with the beginning of World War II, the American political spectrum was divided over the United States's role in Europe.

The Fight For Freedom Committee was against neutrality wanted to strong action against countries creating trouble in Europe.

On the other hand was the group

America First Committee which believe that America should remain neutral and isolate itself to improve it's own government and well-being. They did not even believe in providing aid to European allies

What are reasons for why the federal government should have more power the state governments? State over federal?
densk [106]

Federal Government > State Government

The rationale for this is that we live in a global world and need collective responses to global challenges. Instead of there being a Utah response and a Virginia response to the need for more STEM graduates, there should be a US response. Economies of scale also come into play. It can cost less and be more efficient to have resources centralized.

State Government > Federal Government

America was founded after a revolution rejected a strong central monarchy and America needs to continue to honor that by allowing citizens in Utah to have different approaches than Virginia. When convenient, the states can choose to collectively band together on issues like defense but that should be the exception and not the rule.
