The fractional part of the integer is represented by the place value after the decimal. The number 0.56, for example, is made up of 5 tenths and 6 hundredths.

This can also be written as 0.56 = 0.5 + 0.06. In other words, it means, 0.56 = 5/10 + 6/100.

To add decimals, align the decimal points such that all the digits are aligned according to their place values. Add like you would full numbers, starting on the right and working your way to the left. In the sum, align the decimal point with the decimal points in the values being added.

Decimals are one of the forms of numbers in Algebra that have a whole integer and a fractional part separated by a decimal point. The decimal point is the dot that appears between the full number and the fractions section. 34.5, for example, is a decimal number.

Solve the following using the elimination or substitution method. Show all work.
ki77a [65]

Jim has 28 nickels and 37 dimes in his pocket. which is determined by the substitution method.

What is the equation?

The term "equation" refers to mathematical statements that have at least two terms with variables or integers that are equal.

Let the number of nickels would be n

Let the number of dimes would be d

As per the given question,

d + n = 65 ....(i)

0.10d + 0.05n = 5.10 ....(ii)

From equation (i),

d + n = 65

d + n - n = 65 - n

d = 65 - n

Substitute in for the equation(ii): d = 65 - n

0.10(65 - n) + 0.05n = 5.10

6.5 - 0.10n + 0.05n = 5.10

6.5 - 0.05n = 5.10

6.5 - 0.05n - 6.5 = 5.10 - 6.5

- 0.05n = -1.4

n = 28

This means there are 28 nickels

Substitute the value of n = 28 in the equation (i),

d + n = 65

d + 28 = 65

d = 37

So there are 37 dimes

Thus, Jim has 28 nickels and 37 dimes in his pocket.

PLEASE SHOW WORK!!!!!!
ss7ja [257]
When there is one soda, there is 25 cents, and when there are 3 sodas, there are 75 cents included in the total. So, it's safe to assume that the soda has a minimum of 25 cents each.Then, there are the same amount of donuts in both parts. So, the donuts will take up the same amount of money in both. If you can find how much those donuts are worth, you can find how much the sodas are worth, plus the 25 cents, for each.
If the donuts are worth $1 each, then take away $2 from each total.
You'll get 6.75 for the first, and 2.25 for the second.
From reasoning, you can get that each soda is equal to $2.25 and each donut is equal to $1.
There are different ways to do this, but the way I did it is simply the way my brain works.
