Ignoring evidence that implies that one is mistaken are expressions of overconfidence bias. Going on a lengthy trip without a map and refusing to ask for directions if they get lost along the way are two overconfident.

Behaviours mistaken that someone who believes their sense of direction is much superior than it actually is could exhibit. A person who is overconfident believes they are much smarter than they actually are. Even though we typically view boosting someone's confidence as a positive thing, doing so excessively can be harmful. Overconfidence can result in losing money from bad investment choices, losing the confidence of those who depend on you, or wasting time on a useless idea.

Why did many colonists believe there was nothing wrong with slavery?
Talja [164]

Answer:

Well, it's like with Suffragettes, a group of women fighting for the rights of women, well it's not completely like it, however, with the fight for women's rights, society had created a certain mindset, that women were a weaker sex, and that all and any of their value came with how the men saw them, they had no rights and they were thought of to need men. With Slavery, society had created a certain mind set that most people no longer hold, they believed that people of colour were lower than them, that they didn't deserve to have rights. The dehumanized them like they did with people from India, and as they dehumanized the slaves, it was easier for them to be able to treat them so poorly. Society had created this view and everyone else agreed. It was to help themselves and take over. Not to mention that Glory, Gold and Land was so important back then, people really didn't care about others, if they felt like someone wasn't of their status, they treated them poorly. Just like in Harry Potter, the purebloods had all gotten this ideology that they were better than anyone less than them, they taught their children and acted on their beliefs.

Pets who run toward the sound of an electric can opener because it signals the arrival of their canned food, even if there is no
AveGali [126]

Answer:

Classical conditioning

Explanation:

In psychology, classical conditioning is a method of learning by pairing stimuli. Usually, first one stimulus causes a natural answer (the unconditioned stimulus causes an unconditioned answer), then this unconditioned stimulus is paired with another stimulus that doesn't cause an answer by itself at first but after some repetitions, the new stimulus (conditioned stimulus) causes the same answer from the unconditioned stimulus and this answer becomes the conditioned answer.

In this example, pets have learned to pair the sound of the electric can opener with the arrival of their canned food so they have learned to respond to this sound and therefore, they run toward the sound of the can opener even if there is no cat food present. The can opener would be the conditioned stimulus which has been paired with the food (unconditioned stimulus) and has created the response of the pets running toward this sound (Conditioned answer). Therefore this is an example of classical conditioning.
