100 = 2t + (0.5)(9.8)t²

100 = 2t + 4.9t²

solve the above quadratic equation using formula method;

a = 4.9, b = 2, c = -100

t = 4.32 seconds

Thus, the time taken for the ball to reach the ground is determined as 4.32 seconds.
