First, what is Suzy doing?
She is adding (-3) to (-2)

Assume it on number line, go (-3) steps from (-2) that means we need to go 3 steps back from (-2)!
We land on (-5)!

Again, mathematically:
Suzy added (-2) and (-3)
(-2)+(-3) = - 2 - 3 = -5
But her answer is? (+5)
So, she's incorrect!
So, the answer is (B)

Well, let's think about what we're saying here. In mathematics, whenever a negative is added, it's the same as subtracting the positive of that number. For instance, if we had 5 + -9, that would be the same as saying 5 - 9.
So, let us put the equation we have into more common terms. Suzy started at -2, so that is our starting number. Then she added -3. Remember that adding negatives is the same thing as subtracting positives. So now, our expression looks like this:

-2 + -3

which is the same as

-2 - 3

When you subtract 3 from negative two, you are left with -5.

-2 - 3 = -5

We can see that -5 does not equal +5 (Suzy's resulting number), so we can automatically deselect any answer choices that say her logic is sound. Answer choice A is gone.
Let us examine the other choices and see which the right one would be.

B. No, it is not reasonable because if you start at -2, you would move 3 places to the left and get -5.

This choice sounds correct, since that is the result we ended up with, but let's take a look at the last answer anyway.

C. No, it is not reasonable because if you start at -2, you would move 3 places to the right and get +1.

This choice is incorrect. We didn't end up even close to +1, so this choice is not the correct answer choice.

We are left with choice B, which is our correct answer.
Hope that helped! =)

schepotkina [342]

Multiply by 4 is your rule

3 x 4 = 12

6 x 4 = 24

12 x 4 = 48

To solve for the answer for 24, multiply it by 4

24 x 4 = 96

96 is the match for 24

hope this helps

The table gives the surface areas, in square kilometres, of five seas.
zlopas [31]

The table is missing, so i have attached it.

Also, the correct question is;

The surface area of the East China Sea is k times the surface area of the Baltic Sea.

Work out the value of k.

Give your answer to the nearest whole number

Answer:

k = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

From the attached table,

Surface area of east china = 1.25 × 10^(6) km²

Surface area of Baltic sea = 4.22 × 10^(5) km² = 0.422 × 10^(6) km²

We are told that the surface area of East China Sea is k times that of the surface area of the Baltic Sea.

Thus;

1.25 × 10^(6) = k × 0.422 × 10^(6)

k = 1.25/0.422

k = 2.96

Approximating to whole number gives;

k = 3

What is the maximum amount of baggage that may be loaded aboard the airplane for the cg to remain within the moment envelope? we
Korvikt [17]
You are to find the maximum amount of baggage that may be loaded aboard the airplane for the cg (center of gravity) to remain within the moment envelope.

In order to solve this, there is a graph that shows the load weight and the load moment of pilot and front passenger, fuel, rear passenger and passenger including the baggage. Using the given data such as pilot and front passenger 250, the load moment is 9 lbs/in, for the rear passenger at 400lbs, the load moment is 28.5 lbs/in, the fuel at 30 gal has a load moment of 2 lbs/in and oil at 8 quarters is 15 lbs. The total weight is 1,350 + 250 + 400 + 15 is 2015 lbs.
