In the given figure we can determine the coordinate of point M from the graph, we get:

M=(\frac{d}{2},\frac{c}{2})

We can also determine the coordinates of point N as:

N=(\frac{a+b}{2},\frac{c}{2})

Now, to determine the length of segment MN, we need to subtract the x-coordinate of M from the coordinates of N, we get:

MN=\frac{a+b}{2}-\frac{d}{2}

Subtracting the fractions we get:

MN=\frac{a+b-d}{2}

Now, to obtain the length of AB we need to subtract the x-coordinate of A from the x-coordinate of B.

The coordinates of A are determined from the graph:

A=(0,0)

The coordinates of B are:

B=(a,0)

Therefore, the length of segment AB is:

AB=a

Now we do the same procedure to determine the segment of CD. The coordinates of C are:

C=(b,c)

The coordinates of D are:

D=(d,c)

Therefore, CD is:

CD=b-d

Now, we determine MN as half the sum of the bases. The bases are AB and CD, therefore:

MN=\frac{1}{2}(a+b-d)

Therefore, we have proven that the median of a trapezoid equals half the sum of its bases.

The <em>first</em> series uses a <em>linear</em> function with - 1 as <em>first</em> element and 1 as <em>common</em> difference, then the rule corresponding to the series is y = |- 1 + x|.

The <em>second</em> series uses a <em>linear</em> function with - 3 as <em>second</em> element as 2 as <em>common</em> difference, then the rule corresponding to the series is y = |- 3 + 2 · x|.

<h3>What is the pattern and the function behind a given series?</h3>

In this problem we have two cases of <em>arithmetic</em> series, which are sets of elements generated by a condition in the form of <em>linear</em> function and inside <em>absolute</em> power. <em>Linear</em> <em>functions</em> used in these series are of the form:

y = a + r · x      (1)

Where:

  • a - Value of the first element of the series.
  • r - Common difference between two consecutive numbers of the series.
  • x - Index of the element of the series.

1.301

Explanation:

Given:

\log_a5 \approx 0.699 and \log_a2 \approx 0.301

Note that from the properties of logarithms,

\log_a20 = \log_a(5×4)

\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:= \log_a(5×2^2)

\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:=\log_a5 + \log_a(2)^2

\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:=\log_a5 + 2\log_a2

\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\approx 0.699 + 2(0.301)

\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:= 1.301

I need the answer quick please!!!!
4vir4ik [10]

Answer: it says $18 plus $3. The equation would be y = 3x + 18 like said. And for the other one it’s y = 5x + 12 following the same logic.

I know I’m not helping much but I’m rushing rn. Hope this helps?
