In the parallel lines the value of x will be 155 or 171 and value of y will be 9 or 25.

What are parallel lines?

Parallel lines are those lines that are equidistant from each other and never meet, no matter how much they may be extended in either directions

The angles y²and 8y-15 are alternate angles.

We know that the alternate angles are equal.

So

y²=8y-15

y²-8y+15=0

y²-5y-3y+15

y(y-5)-3(y-5)

(y-3)(y-5)=0

y=3 and y=5

So when y=3, 8(3)-15

24-15=9

So when y=5, 8(5)-15=25

Hence

The sum of angles should be 180

x+(8y-15)=180

x+25=180

x=180-25

x=155

and

x+(8y-15)=180

x+9=180

x=180-9

x=171

Hence value of x will be 155 or 171 and value of y will be 9 or 25.

3x + 4y = 12
x + 2y = 10
borishaifa [10]

Answer:

x=-8 and y=9

Step-by-step explanation:

rewrite the equations to x+2y=10,3x+4y=12

sub 2y from both sides x+2y-2y=10-2y

substitue x=10-2y in 3x +4y=12

3(-2y+10)+4y=12

distribute

add-30 to both sides

divide both sides by -2

y=9

sustitute 9 for y in -2y+10=x

x=-8

The bells are adding a new room to their house. The room will be a cube with volume 8000ft3. They are going to put in hardwood
puteri [66]

Given:

Volume of a cubed room = 8000 cubic ft

Cost of floor hardwood = $10 per square foot

To find:

The total cost of floor hardwood.

Solution:

Let the each side of cubed room be x ft.

Volume of a cube is cube of its side.

Volume of a cubed room is 8000 cubic ft. So,

x^3=8000

Taking cube root on both sides.

x=20

So, length of each of room is 20 ft.

Area of base = length × breadth

So, area of base of room is

20\times 20=400\text{ ft}^2

It means, 400 sq ft hardwood is required for the floor.

Cost of floor hardwood is $10 per square foot. So, total cost of hardwood floor is

400\times 10=4000

The hardwood floors will cost $4000.

Which fraction is closer to 0 than 1
scoundrel [369]

Answer:

5/12

Step-by-step explanation:

Since 1/2 is the same distance from zero and one, we can use it to judge whether a fraction is closer to 0 or 1.

Since 5/8 is greater than 4/8 which is 1/2, it is closer to 1.

Since 8/10 is greater than 5/10 which is 1/2, it is closer to 1.

Since 5/12 is less than 6/12 which is 1/2, it is closer to 0.

So our answer is C. 5/12
