The ladder is 24 ft far up the wall and 26 ft long.

the foot of laddder=base=b=10ft

length of ladder=hypotenuse=l=?

height ladder up the wall=altitude=x=l-2 =?          (according to condition)

by using Pythagoras's theorem

        (hypotenus)^{2}=(altitude)^{2}+(base)^{2}

⇒       l^{2}=(l-2)^{2}+(10)^{2}

⇒         l^{2}= l^{2}-4l+100

⇒        4l=104

⇒        l=26ft

also    x=l-2=26-2=24ft

        putting the obtained values in Pythagoras's theorem

⇒       (26)^{2}=(24) ^{2} +(10)^{2}

⇒       676=100+576

⇒       676=676

        hence the given solution is correct.

A camp counselor starts from home and drives to a campground. The expression 130−60t represents the distance, in miles, the coun
telo118 [61]

Answer:

<em>The value 60 represents the speed of the vehicle the counselor is driving.</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Linear Function</u>

The linear relationship between two variables d and t can be written in the form

d=mt+b

Where m is the slope (or rate of change of d with respect to t) and b is the y-intercept or the point where the graph of the line crosses the y-axis

The function provided in our problem is

d=130-60t

Where d is the distance in miles the counselor still needs to drive after t hours. Rearranging the expression:

d=-60t+130

Comparing with the general form of the line we can say m=-60, b=130. The value of -60 is the slope or the rate of change of d with respect to t. Since we are dealing with d as a function of time, that value represents the speed of the vehicle the counselor is driving. It's negative because the distance left to drive decreases as the time increases

Bryce has heard that gas appliances are cheaper to use and can lower utility costs. He is interested in purchasing a new gas sto
Bond [772]

Answer:

C. $29.20

Step-by-step explanation:

The difference between using an electric stove and a gas stove everyday is 13 cents - 5 cents= 8 cents.

Saving 8 cents everyday.

Therefore for a year, Bryce will save 8 cents × 365days = 2920 cents

Then 2920 cents = $(2920÷100)

=$29.20
