We can tell if a graph is an exponential function if it follows certain characteristics and properties as follows:

  • For graph whose base is greater than 1:
  1. The graph is going up, that is increasing.
  2. The graph is continuous and smooth.
  3. The point is traversed by the graph (0,1)
  4. The domain only uses real numbers.
  5. The graph has range between y>0.
  6. The graph approaches negative infinity and becomes asymptotic to the x-axis.
  7. As x gets closer to positive infinity, the graph grows without bound.

  • When the base of the graph is between 0 and 1:
  1. The graph goes down, that is decreasing.
  2. As x gets closer to positive infinity, the graph becomes asymptotic to the x-axis.
  3. As x gets closer to negative infinity, the graph grows without bound.

Rest all properties are same as above.

A curve that depicts an exponential function is known as an exponential graph. A curve with a horizontal asymptote and either an increasing slope or a decreasing slope called an exponential graph. i.e., it begins as a horizontal line, increases or drops gradually, and then the growth or decay accelerates.

It may or may not cut the x-axis, but it always cuts the y-axis at some point. In other words, an exponential graph always has a y-intercept while an x-intercept may or may not be present.

F(x) = ax, a>0, a1 is the simplest exponential function.

65

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of the square is 5^2=25 and the area of a single triangle is \frac{1}{2}(5)(4)=10.

The total area is the square plus the 4 triangles 25+4(10)=65

A city water tank holds 20 gallons of water. A technician empties 25% of the tank. How many more gallons of water must be remove
Alja [10]

Answer: 15 gallons

Step-by-step explanation:

There is 100% in any full thing. When the water tank was full, it had 20 gallons. After 25% of the water was removed, there is 75% left (100% - 25% = 75%). 75% can also equal 0.75. 20 × 0.75 = 15 gallons.

Use the three steps to solve the problem. Two planes leave an airport at noon. If the eastbound plane flies at 560 mph and the w
Alenkinab [10]

The distance formula is:  Distance = Rate x Time.

We know the distance: 2000 miles.

We know the rates: 560 and 500 mph.

We need to solve for time:

2000 = (560 + 500) * T

2000 = 1060 *T

T = 2000 / 1060

T = 1.89 hours ( 1 hour 53 minutes)

They left at noon:

12:00 pm + 1 hour and 53 minutes = 1:53 pm.

Which compound inequality is represented by the graph?
OLga [1]

<u>Answer-</u>

\boxed{\boxed{x < -2\ or\ x \geq 4}}

<u>Solution-</u>

As we know that, on the number line, if a number is on the right of another number, then the former number is greater than the later number.

As, the number on the right side are 4, 5, ...so on (4 is dotted so it is included)

So the inequality will be x\geq 4

As, the number on the left side are -3, -4, -5, ..... so on (-2 is not dotted so it is excluded)

So the inequality will be x

Then the compound inequality will be, x < -2\ or\ x \geq 4

Look for a pattern in the first three diamonds below. For the fourth diamond, explain how to find the missing numbers (?) if you
murzikaleks [220]

The general pattern that these diamonds follow is that the top number is the result of multiplying the numbers in the middle; while the bottom number results from adding these numbers. This pattern can be used to find the numbers in the fourth diamond. Moreover, the numbers that complete the diamonds are A (15,8), B (2,-3), C (4,2), D(4,8.5), E (-3.-4)

<h3>What is the general pattern in the diamonds?</h3>

Based on observation, you can determine in these diamonds the top number is obtained by multiplying the numbers in the middle, while the bottom number is obtained by adding these numbers.

<h3>What numbers complete the diamonds?</h3>

Diamond A

Top number: 15 (3x5)

Bottom number: 8 (3+5)

Diamond B

Top number: 2 (-2x-1)

Bottom number: -3(-2+-1)

Diamond C

4, 2 because 4x2 = 8 and 4+2 = 6

Diamond D

Top number: 4( 8x0.5)

Bottom number: 8.5(8+0.5)

Diamond E

-3,-4 because -3x-4= 12, and -3+-4= -7
