The distance formula is:  Distance = Rate x Time.


We know the distance: 2000 miles.

We know the rates: 560 and 500 mph.

We need to solve for time:


2000 = (560 + 500) * T

2000 = 1060 *T

T = 2000 / 1060

T = 1.89 hours ( 1 hour 53 minutes)


They left at noon:

12:00 pm + 1 hour and 53 minutes = 1:53 pm.
