x = 3 + y Eqn(1)

y = -2x + 9 Eqn(2)

Let us solve the system of equations with the substitution method

x - 3 = y (Subtracting 3 from both sides of the Eqn(1))

Replacing y = x - 3 in Eqn (2), we have:

x - 3 = -2x + 9

x = -2x + 9 + 3 (Adding 3 to both sides of the equation)

x + 2x = 9 + 3 (Adding 2x to both sides of the equation)

3x = 12 ( Adding like terms)

x = 12/3 (Dividing by 3 on both sides of the equation)

x = 4

Replacing x=4 in Eqn(1), we have:

4 = 3 + y

4 - 3 = y (Subtracting 3 from both sides of the equation)

y=1

The answers are:

x= 4 and y=1

bezimeni [28]

Answer:

The area and circumference is/are both 4π

Step-by-step explanation:

Formula for the circumference: 2πr

Formula for the area: πr²

2×π×2=4π

The circumference is 4π

π×2²= 4π

The area is 4π

Fibonacci posed the following problem: Suppose that rabbits live forever and that every month each pair produces a new pair whic
docker41 [41]

Answer:

Let f_n be the number of rabbit pairs at the beginning of each month. We start with one pair, that is f_1 = 1. After one month the rabbits still do not produce a new pair, which means f_2 = 1. After two months a new born pair appears, that is f_3 = 2, and so on. Let now n \geq 3 be any natural number. We have that f_n is equal to the previous amount of pairs f_n-1 plus the amount of new born pairs. The last amount is f_n-2, since any two month younger pair produced its first baby pair. Finally we have

f_1 = f_2 = 1,f_n = f_n-1 + f_n-2 for any natural n  \geq 3.

The annual 2-mile fun-run is a traditional fund-raising event to support local arts and sciences activities. It is known that th
victus00 [196]

Answer: 0.0228

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The  mean and the standard deviation of finish times (in minutes) for this event are respectively as :-

\mu=30\\\\\sigma=5.5

If the distribution of finish times is approximately bell-shaped and symmetric, then it must be normally distributed.

Let X be the random variable that represents the finish times for this event.

z score : z=\dfrac{x-\mu}{\sigma}

z=\dfrac{19-30}{5.5}=-2

Now, the probability of runners who finish in under 19 minutes by using standard normal distribution table :-

P(X

Hence, the approximate proportion of runners who finish in under 19 minutes = 0.0228
